Eastern Connection Adds Cutting-Edge Digital MC70 Symbol Technology Scanners

Woburn, Mass. - Eastern Connection in Woburn, Mass. - the largest regional parcel carrier serving the East Coast - recently added digital scanners as part of a major investment in technology coinciding with EC’s 25th anniversary.

 

EC drivers are equipped with MC70 Scanners, handheld digital devices, which include signature capture and built-in cameras that immediately transmit images back to the EC web site at www.easternconnection.com. This technology is more advanced than anything offered by the national carriers, according to Jim Berluti, President and CEO of Eastern Connection.

 

In addition, at Eastern Connection’s headquarters facility in Woburn, Mass, the company has further automated its operations by installing a new overhead parcel scanner system. The system will increase sorting capacity and help dispatch routes earlier by automating the process.

 

Also, Eastern Connection has upgraded its internal operating system with Carrier Logistics, an operations and software firm specializing in the transportation industry, leading to greater efficiency and accuracy.
