Overview

Founded on February 14, 1983, Eastern Connection is now the largest regional express parcel carrier on the East Coast. We provide service to over 7,000 zip codes from Maine to Virginia, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Due to our unique all-ground transportation network, we can stay committed to our goal of offering later pick-ups and earlier deliveries. We currently deliver hundred of thousand or parcels weekly with a staff of over 500 dedicated individuals from New England to Virginia. 
 

Principals

James A. Berluti
President and CEO

Jim is one of the original founders of Eastern Connection in 1983. Prior to starting Eastern Connection, Jim was the New England Sales Manager for Sky Courier International. In 1995, he was a keynote speaker at the courier industry's largest conference sponsored by Courier Magazine, and in 1996 Jim was also a featured speaker at Inc. World in Boston. A 1978 graduate of Boston University, Jim holds a BS in Communications and is actively involved in many civic and professional organizations.
 
Ted Kauffman
Chairman
Ted is one of the original founders of Eastern Connection in 1983. Over the years he has been directly involved with the management of all functional areas within the organization. Ted worked in the courier industry for many years prior to opening Eastern Connection. He received his BBA from Penn State University.

Eastern Connection offers a portfolio of products to service you and your customers needs.  We also offer state of the art automation to process shipments and provide real time package status plus proof of delivery through the use of state-of-the-art hand held scanners. Shipment status can be uploaded electronically or can be tracked online through our website. Our services offerings are profiled below.
 
  • Next Day Ground

Our latest product offering is your best shipping value. One Service Level, Next Day. Our Competitors deliver the same service area 2, 3, and 4 days later. We offer a Next Day Delivery by 5:00 PM from Maine to Virginia with Later Pick-ups, Hundredweight and Minimum shipment charges with more flexibility than the national carriers. 
  • Priority Overnight Package Delivery

As the largest regional freight specialist on the East Coast, EC’s Priority Overnight guarantees delivery by 10:30 a.m. to all delivery areas. We specialize in interoffice mail, time-sensitive materials, and high-value freight. By offering a later pick-up and earlier delivery, we work to meet the needs of the commercial customer. 
  • Express Night Owl

Sometimes business goes beyond 9 to 5. For those times, Eastern Connection offers Express “Night Owl” delivery. Our drivers will pick up as late as 11:00 p.m. in most metropolitan areas and deliver your package before 10:30 the next morning.   We’re working when you’re working. 
  • Rapid Response Same Day Delivery

 

Next Flight Out (NFO)

Next Flight Out delivers door-to-door service anywhere in the continental United States. We pick up and expedite your shipment on the next commercial flight available. Your shipment is received by an EC agent and delivered to its final destination within hours of your call. 
  • Logistics

Eastern Connection’s Logistics operations team can develop a warehousing, distribution, and logistics program specifically designed to expedite your critical, just-in-time shipments. We provide fast, easy access to your inventory, total door-to-door access to your inventory, improved productivity and cost reduction. 
  • ECMail – Postal Expediting Service

Eastern Connection Mail collects your flats, priority, and bound printed matter mail pieces and places it into the United States Postal Office (USPO) Delivery Network. Our value-added service provides better delivery time, postage savings, equipment, and labor cost reduction, and improved delivery through bar-coding. Eastern Connection picks up at your location and delivers it to our local mail center. The mail center processes and expedites the mail and parcels, which are then entered into the USPS Delivery Network and hand delivered to the final destination. 
  • Eastern Connection Medical Division (ECMD)

Trained in the specialty areas of temperature, public safety, and timing that are unique to the field, Eastern Connection is setting the new standard in healthcare logistics.

Facilities

Our headquarters in Woburn, MA is the main location for Customer Service and Dispatch. However, as a security and reliability precaution, all services are duplicated at the Long Island, New York office. Our line haul hub in New Jersey is an 18 cross-dock facility. Eastern Connection moves more than 8,000 packages a day. 
 

Fleet

Eastern Connection relies completely on ground transportation. Our fleet of over 300 vehicles includes pickup trucks, step vans, and tractor-trailers. Through the efficiency of ground transportation, EC has a 98% on-time efficiency record. 
 

Employees

Eastern Connection has one of the strongest teams in the regional express parcel carrier industry with industry veterans in Customer Service, Operations, MIS/IT, and Marketing.

Customer Service

Eastern Connection’s customer service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. A friendly knowledgeable representative is ready to assist you at 800-877-4745. Our Customer Service Professionals manage a wide variety of requests including placing orders, tracking and tracing shipments, billing questions, and other account related inquiries.   We have a total of 20 customer service professionals on staff. A supervisor is assigned to each shift and management is always available.
