I. General Overview:
 


The Business Development Manager is responsible for selling Eastern Connection services by calling on prospective and established customers, as well as identifying new business and marketing strategies in order to increase sales activities in the Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey area.

II. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain sales programs within assigned territory by keeping customers informed about available services, prices and new products
  • Identifying and qualifying a target market
  • Assisting in the bidding process and pricing process as necessary
  • Responsible for meeting established sales quota
  • Maintains awareness of markets, competitor activities and problems within assigned area; recognizes trends that develop and makes recommendations 
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activity, analyze and prepare sales forecasts. 
  • Determine priority and effort given to each account based on sales potential and sales maintenance
  • Institute, motivate, and measure targeted sales programs
  • Work with administrative office to develop work-flow processes to improve internal and external communication
  • Work with the marketing department to design and develop marketing material
  • Work with sales and management team to develop, implement, adjust and measure the company's sales program
  • Work with customer service department to develop and measure workflow efficiencies designed to improve service to the customer
  • Work with third party transportation organization to incorporate Eastern Connection as an overnight carrier option
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet business needs

III. Qualifications/Skills:

  • Industry experience
  • Bachelors Degree or relevant experience preferred
  • 3+ years of previous sales experience
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written
